Mummy and I were strolling around Junction 8 after lunch,
when mummy tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to someone behind me.

Egad!!!

It's pi-gu (butt) man!!

He jogged towards us with a dazzling smile,
and the both of us started to chat abit before we parted.

When he went to rejoin his group of friends,
I turned to find my mummy nowhere in sight.

Then suddenly,
she materialised from inside S & K,
with a mischievious grin across her face.

I hate it when that happens.

"Was that Kenneth?"she asked in a conversational voice

"No." My tone was flat, deliberately unencouraging.

Knowing my mum, the conversation would be going somewhere.
And I'm determined to let it go nowhere.

"Adam?" She asked hopefully.

"No." I started walking faster.
Hoping to distract her, "Ehh!!!OP got sale!!"

Women are extremely determined creatures,
when they set their minds to it.

"Daniel?Is that Daniel?"

"No! It's not anyone u've heard of b4"

Women have very keen intuition.
When they sensed that they are on the verge of winning a battle,
they swoop in like vultures.

She pressed me for the name.
I gave it to her.
(I almost told her his name was Torres)

She asked what he is doing now.
I answered her.

She wanted to know how I met him.
I told her.

She demanded to know if we went out b4.
I replied her.

"Hmmm...I like him leh.Tall, tanned, and he looks very man. Does he have a girlfriend?"

"Ur married." I picked up a pair of brown shorts and became absorbed with examining the creases.

"Tsk!Did he go after u b4?"

"No." I picked up the black equivalent.

"Why didn't u go after him then?"

I turned to stare at her and raised an eyebrow.

"Does he have a girlfriend?" She tugged on my hand, "I really like him eh!"

Torn between irritation and amusement,

"No, I don't think he does.
If u like him that much,
y don't I call him n u can convey ur feelings to him?"

"Seriously! U don't think he's attractive meh?"

Of cos I think he is.
What am I, blind ?
Not everyone gets the honour of being called pi-gu man u noe?

Sighing convincingly,
I told her an outright lie that would be sure to steer her away from her thoughts.

"He's gay. Hopelessly so."

Her gaze flew to my face and shock was written all over hers.

And, just like I thought,
it shut her up.

What can I say?

Daughters know best :)
