I dug out Breakfast at Tiffany's and gave it a go today.
Audrey Hepburn's as beautiful as everyone says she is,
as beautiful as the film itself.
They don't make movies like these anymore.
They don't write classic dialogues like those anymore.
Maybe because people are not like that anymore.
Sometimes I get the feeling I'm born into the wrong era.
Don't you sometimes?
Moon river wider than a mile
Im crossing you in style someday
You dream maker, you heartbreaker
Wherever youre going Im going your way
Two drifters off to see the world
Theres such a lot of world to see
Were after the same rainbows end
Waiting round the band
My huckleberry friend, moon river
And me

On a random Saturday morning,
The bored shake-legs-make-money gang embarked on something they've never done before.
Throughout our years of friendship,
we've already drink, drank, drunk,
eat, ate, eaten.
So this time,
we decided to eat- ate- eaten our way out of Singapore
starting at 0730 @ Meridien food court (Singapore)
ending at 1500 @ Dorsett Regency (KL)

And to make up for it,
she arranged for her personal Ahmad to super-drive us into KL in luxurious comfort.
1st time in such a vehicle of luxury.
For those of u who haven't been to the insides of one b4,
do enlarge the collage for details.

I was surprised myself how much space it actually concealed inside its sleek body.
Let the KL invasion begin!!!!

Incomprehensible traffic directions, check.
Unscrupulous taxi drivers who charged a rate instead of going by meters, check.
Shopping heaven, CHECK.
Food paradise,

WE ARE POSITIVELY, IN KL.
So the story goes....
Introducing the feisty characters!

The hungry Boss from Hell,
"Shall we eat this? Yes we should. Shall we order this too? Yes, I think we should!!"
The psychologically unbalanced old maid kindergarten teacher from hell,
"I said u enjoyed urself means u enjoyed urself!
Utter another word and u will be punished to rub suntan oil for eternity!!!"
The 笑里藏刀ruthless business undergrad,
"16rm...divide by 2...S$8 for 2 tanks!! Very cheap eh!!
Ha!Ha!Ha! MuAHaHa! WAHAHAHA!! WAAIIHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"
The brooding Federal Reserves Chair,
"General Motors...Chrysler...& Ford... Shd I bail them out or let them file for bankruptcy?
But I still got so much Ringgit leh. Aiya! Just anyhow whack lah!"
The seemingly amicable, alert, but actually anything but Manyzer,
"*&^&$&^(*&.... ASSHOLE...*&^&$^%...IDIOT LEH U.....
Oh, OH!! Oh yah, hor!!!"
Our only setback- Hotel dilemma.
To Ritz or not to Ritz.

Everything went smoothly thereafter,
which means,
nothing interesting to tell liao.
No catfights, no angry accusations.
Just plain, simple,
FUN

Final shots b4 returning to our normal boring lives.

KL is really not that different from Singapore.
The people, albeit with their misguided sense of directions,
are just as helpful, chatty and warm.
Their food is as varied as Singapore's (But 50% cheaper!)
Their apparels are very suitable for Singaporeans (But 50% cheaper!)
It got so similar that at one point,
The 笑里藏刀ruthless business undergrad complained that she didn't have the overseas feeling.
The differences are subtle, I should say.
You don't get Singaporean cab drivers cursing their own fellow citizens the way they do,
"Damn Malaysians! How u drive!".
The differences are in the way the country operates I guess.
Like in train stations,
we don't get administrators shouting at people, instructing them on how to queue.
When we see a green man on our traffic lights in Singapore,
we trust in our social norms and cross without a second's hesitation.
Whereas in KL, u better trust CAUTION.
It's like, when you see a place bustling with life and modernity,
you'd expect to see better infrastructure and organization,
but these are sadly lacking in KL.
It's like the government in their struggle to play catch up to the rest of the world,
merely provides the basic foundations,
without even making them stable,
it just feels so haphazard.
And being there, you'd wonder about their education system as well.
Cos it seems as if there is an awful lot of people, young people in the retail sales line.
An Indian cabby uncle told us this one night while we were in his cab.
He said that you can't really blame the taxi drivers for quoting you a rate rather then using the meter.
With traffic conditions such as this,
they wouldn't be able to make ends meet if they all go by meters.
Passengers would benefit from the low fares of course.
But what about the drivers who get stuck in hours and hours of jam
if they didn't manage to pick up any customers after dropping you off?
The sharp contrast does strike me,
especially while we were happily shopping eating,
having the time of our lives,
there are these classes of people who, at the same time,
are suffering because their welfare are sorely neglected.
That aside,
it ain't gonna stop me from insisting on metered taxis,
or haggling for a better price the next time I'm in KL!!!!
Hahahaha!!!
I'm there to enjoy myself wat,
not to resolve all social ills!!!
On a lighter note,
let me share two little somethings I find interesting in KL.

I WANNA GO HOLIDAY AGAIN!!!!!
Sometimes, it isn't the place that u miss all that much.
Neither is it really the country that attracts.
It's the company that's sorely missed.
The people you spent your every waking hour with,
those same people who helped made the memories so special.
And the idyllic days you spent worrying about nothing but where to haf ur nxt meal,
whether u haf enuf money to last u until u find the nxt money changer.
Ahh....the beauty of holidays
it actually lies with the justified filling of your every waking hour with mere trivialities.
P.S: No, we didn't take any limo to KL or anywhere else. Lol!! I was just making up stories :P cos we seem to see that limo EVERYWHERE. From Singapore to KL, and even when we reached KL, we still see it on the roads. Maybe it's a sign tt we'll all be filthy rich by the time we hit 30. Woo!!
